Our final events to celebrate women

Following our exhibition and the launch of our short film, we held two further community events to celebrate the contribution of women during pandemics.

On Tuesday 5th December we held an additional screening of our short film at Big Creative Education in Walthamstow, in their state of the art cinema. Members of the local community attended, and we finished the evening with a wider discussion about the project.

We also held a family friendly art workshop at The Mil in Walthamstow. We invited the community to make a mini world in a jar, reflecting on their memories of lockdown.

We had someone remember the camp fires they had, toasting marshmallows.

Someone else remembered playing in the forest.

One girl remembered how she learnt to knit during lockdown.

One person had to move house during lockdown, so that was her over-riding memory.

Keeping with the miniature theme, we had a desk top version of our exhibition on display.

The exhibition has also been on a mini tour, being displayed as part of interfaith Week at St Barnabas Church in Walthamstow. They will do a second display for International Women’s Day in March 2024, if you want to catch it then.

Although the project is now at an end, you can still enjoy our short film on You Tube, and our six part podcast series, featuring further stories. You can also download the research report from our website.
