Young people said they wanted to make a short film about the pandemic, so we have been working with students from The Big Creative to film interviews with some of our oral history contributors. Due to lack of archive footage around the 1918 pandemic, we will be using animation to mix these stories with the contemporary ones.
We have been lucky that so many amazing women chose to share their lockdown stories with us. I’m sure the end result will be an inspiring tale in the face of a global crisis.
The students will be doing a shortened version of the film for social media. We have launched a new Tik Tok channel and begun sharing some existing stories to engage more young people with women’s history. Follow us on Tik Tok at @shareukhistory
